Riggs Rolls to Third Straight Top-20
Darlington, S.C. – Scott Riggs raced his No. 66 State Water Heaters Chevrolet Impala SS to a 17th-place finish at Darlington Raceway Saturday night.
Riggs began the race in the 9th position on the starting grid and ran near the Top-10 for the early portion of the race. Riggs lost track position, however, when he had to re-pit his car after NASCAR officials determined that not all of the lug nuts where tightened on the left front wheel.
Throughout the race Riggs reported that his car was tight through the corners, and Crew Chief Booty Barker called for several air pressure and chassis adjustments to Riggs’ Chevy.
“I’m pretty happy about our finishing position tonight,” Riggs said. “We weren’t very fast early on in practice, then I backed one into the wall and we had to bring out the backup car. So the weekend didn’t get off to great start.
“But we found something later on in practice and ended up with a Top-10 qualifying run and a pretty decent race setup,” Riggs said. “We’ll just try to get a little better every week.”
The No. 66 team will next participate in the “Sprint Showdown” Saturday night. The Top-2 finishers of the Sprint Showdown qualify for the Sprint All-Star Race that immediately follows the Showdown. The Sprint Showdown will be broadcast live Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on the SPEED television network and local MRN radio affiliates.
