Jeremy Mayfield Las Vegas Pre-Race Report

Jeremy Mayfield and the No. 70 Haas Automation team will be looking for a fresh start this week when they take to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Sunday’s UAW 400.

Mayfield and company suffered a spate of bad luck last week, including a blown right rear tire, that relegated the team to a 39th-place finish at the Auto Club Speedway.

“We’ve got to put last week behind us and move forward,” Mayfield said. “It was a rough weekend, but you can’t dwell on it. We need a good run this week to gain ground in the points,” he said. “Vegas has been a pretty good track for me and I’m confident we’ll do well.”

In nine races at LVMS Mayfield has two Top-5 and two Top-10 finishes with a best finish of second (2002). His average starting position here is 17th, and his average finish is 18th.

The No. 70 team will be using chassis No. 425 this weekend. It was new to Haas CNC Racing in January 2007 and raced last season (as the No. 66) at Phoenix in April, Richmond in May, Infineon, and at Dover in September.

Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race will be broadcast live on FOX at 4:30 p.m. EST and on local PRN affiliates.
